Wander And Wonder: Day 23 (#581)

Back on “Wander And Wonder: Day 10” I wrote about Maria and her black lab, Sophia.

To continue the story, Sophia stopped eating earlier this week.  Maria then knew it was her time.  She found a vet who agreed to come and help Sophia ascend in the comfort of her own home.

When it was over, her caregiver helped take care of Sophia’s burial.  On their way home,  distraught at the prospect of being all alone, Maria decided to visit the local animal shelter.

She looked over several dogs who, as she said, just did not seem interested.  Then a volunteer brought out a 6 year old dachshund/chihuahua mix.

The little dog looked up at Maria and put her paw out, as if in greeting.  It was love at first sight.

Ginger had come to the shelter when her owner recently passed.

Serendipity brought these loving, gentle souls together.
