On The Eve Of The Winter Solstice (#681)

My last post on December 2nd, showed a photo of some abalone hair clips I started to make.

This photo is of the display of my Mermaid Hair Clips at the Westport Beach store in California. (Quick photo with my iPhone)

The legend is this ~

Once a month during the full moon, the mermaids swim ashore.  They sit on the sand, take the abalone clips from their hair,  and comb their hair by the light of the moon.

The waves beckon softly to them and the call is so great that in their rush to go back to their beautiful ocean  home they sometimes leave their hair clips behind.
